Optical technology is improving in leaps and bounds and prescriptions that looked like 'cola-bottles', and glasses that were 'thick as bricks', even a few years ago - can today be fabricated in some cosmetically stunning and functionally fantastic options. Super anti-reflective coatings and ultra high refractive index lenses have made this possible. We also have technology that allows us to demonstrate specific edge and centre thickness of spectacle lenses, a great help to our clientele.

With today's complex visual needs, especially influenced by computers, TV and motor vehicle ergonomics, 'single vision' spectacles and bifocals are no longer the preferred option. Specialised occupational and business lenses are available to cater for even the most complex requirements. Aspheric surfaces and aberration-controlled optics allow for previously unobtainable levels of vision with the minimum of disturbing distortions.

Gold plated frames do not cause skin reactions, dermatitis or allergic responses, as many of the lower quality and cheaper nickel-based alloys are prone to do. Titanium frames are also 'reaction free' and the strongest and lightest of all materials available today. We have a large range of gold, platinum, titanium, stainless steel, aluminium and acetate [plastic] frames in stock from a broad range of suppliers. Some of our finished titanium based spectacles - frames and lenses combined - have weighed in at less than 10 grams, with the frames alone as light as 2 to 3 grams. Surely a benefit for the nose at the end of a hard day?

Most soft lens options, whether they be two week or monthly disposables [with solutions], daily disposables or extended wear now work out to roughly the same annual cost. Thus these days it's a matter of finding a satisfactory option that suits your lifestyle. For instance with daily disposables you simply throw them out. There's no cleaning or storage involved and lenses will always be sterile, clean and free of the previous day's deposits, makeup, pollen, cleaners and chemical solutions. This allows the eye to obtain maximum comfort and clarity, not to mention health and convenience. Lens quality is excellent.
